Do you have an interest in current affairs? Do you have strong ideas about how to run the country? If so maybe a career in politics is calling?
Becoming an MP is far from being the only way into a career in politics, and many opportunities do not require a degree in politics, though experiences with a political party or in student politics is useful.
Other roles in politics include working as a parliamentary researcher for an MP or for a political party or trade union.
If you have an aptitude for communication, marketing and using social media you could be working as a PR consultant, as a special adviser to a government department or a party agent organising election campaigns.
You could also be working for an organisation lobbying MPs to support a specific cause. If you enjoy hanging out in the Houses of Parliament with MPs and getting the latest ‘off the record’ comments you could be a political journalist.
