General support
Living a military life can bring unique challenges from frequently moving home, moving schools, periods of separation and deployment.
There are lots of organisations that can give you hands-on advice and ways to get through these challenges. On 19th January 2022 the Families Strategy, a new 10 year plan recognising the unique nature of military life and setting out bespoke support for service families was published. The strategy will deliver change over the next decade as it brings together innovative policies on health and wellbeing, education and career support.
There are lots of organisations that offer general support.
SSAFA the Armed forces charity helps families of all armed forces personnel and veterans, whether that is immediate help or long-term support. This can include support groups for bereaved families, buying household goods, short breaks for families with a disability.
The Naval Families Federation offers advice and support to empower RN and RM families. They offer advice on issues such as accommodation, education and relationships
The Army Families Federation is an independent voice of Army personnel and their families. It provides a signposting service to help find the right person to speak to. Help with housing, Money, Foreign and commonwealth, Education and childcare, Health, Employment, Family life
