Careerpilot is closing - FAQs for parents and carers
Last updated: 10/8/26
What is happening to Careerpilot?
Careerpilot is closing on 18 December 2026 after 15 years of supporting young people in their careers thinking. The decision has been taken because we have not been able to secure the funding needed to keep developing the platform.
What does my child need to do?
If your child has used Careerpilot to save information about their interests, skills, work experience or future plans, they should log in and download anything they want to keep before the site closure on 18th December 2026. Their school or careers adviser will be able to help if needed.
What happens to my child's personal information?
All user account data will be deleted as part of the site closure, with deletion completed by January 2027. If you have any questions about how your child's data has been handled, please see the data protection section below or contact us at careerpilot@bath.ac.uk.
About your data and privacy
What happens to my account data and personal information when the site closes?
Users with a login are encouraged to download all data and reports by 18 December 2026. All user data will then be securely deleted as part of the full site closure, with deletion completed by January 2027.
How will my data be deleted?
User data will be securely deleted from the live Careerpilot system as part of the site takedown, with deletion of all remaining data and backups completed by January 2027. No personal data will be retained by the University of Bath after this date.
Will any data be kept after closure?
We may retain anonymised, aggregated usage statistics (for example, numbers of users by year or region) for our own reporting purposes. No personally identifiable information will be retained.
Who can I contact about data protection?
For any data protection questions, please contact the University of Bath Data Protection Officer at dataprotection@bath.ac.uk.
