What is a V Level?

You may have heard recent news about the introduction of V Levels as a post 16 option. V levels are due to be introduced from 2027, to replace many existing level 3 vocational qualifications. It will mean that in 2027, students at level 3 can choose from:

  • A levels (the established academic route)
  • T levels (the current technical route)
  • V levels (the renamed vocational route)

There are also due to be two new Level 2 pathway options (GCSE equivalent):

  • The occupational pathway (employment focused programme)
  • The further study pathway (for those who wish to progress onto a level 3 study course)

More details on the new V levels and post 16 qualification pathways can be found here

We will update Careerpilot with more details of the new post 16 study options following the government consultation and further announcements.
