How can I help my child find an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are offered by a wide range of employers and can be advertised in many places. The Government runs the main website where vacancies are advertised, but young people can also find apprenticeships through employer websites, local colleges and training providers.
An apprenticeship is just like searching for a job, young people have to look in a range of different places to find one and they are competitive!
Start by looking at the government's vacancy website
One of the best ways to start looking for an apprenticeship is through the Government vacancy website ‘Find an apprenticeship’
This website is where young people can set up an account to search and apply for different apprenticeships that they might see.
As these are real jobs, applicants will need to apply for the vacancies by submitting a job application.
Other places to find apprenticeships
Many training providers and colleges advertise their vacancies on their own sites and some employers advertise through their own websites or though job vacancy sites.
You can find local colleges and training providers in the South of England here
