Sports Coaching Courses on offer

Coachmakers course and Traineeships

 Get fit, focused and ready for work

The course is for those who are aged 16-18 and interested in a career in sport coaching. We also have opportunities for those aged 19-24 on a Coachmakers traineeship.

On this unique, programme, students will be gaining qualifications, skills, advice and career guidance from experienced Sport tutors and professionals. Students experience real life sport-based work placements. You could be delivering sport sessions across the city, assisting with coaching in local Primary Schools, running sports festivals in the community, discovering how to run a community sports project, or even help out on match days with local sport clubs.

The course is fun, active and develops leadership skills, builds confidence and improves communication, all valuable, transferable skills for todays workplace. We recognise the benefits of not specialising in coaching sport too young and provide opportunity for students to experience playing and delivering a wide range of sport.

Qualifications you will achieve:

1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in Principles & Preparations of Coaching Sport

1st4Sport Level 2 Award in Multi-Skills Development in Sport

Emergency First Aid

Sports Coach UK Safeguarding Workshop

Functional Skills English Level 1/2

Functional Skills Maths Level 1/2

A big element of this course is work experience. You will be placed with an employer to practice what you have learned and gain confidence. If you do well with the employer there is a good chance they may offer you full/part time work, or even an apprenticeship. You will still continue to attend the course throughout these terms one day a week, to develop your skills and knowledge around topics such as:

Coaching People with Disabilities

Managing Challenging Behaviour

Fundamentals of Movement

Employability skills

Fitness sessions

What do I do afterwards?

On completion of the course you will have the chance to apply for paid Apprenticeship placements or progress to a Level 3 programme. However, ALL applicants will be supported into other opportunities.

When & Where does it start?

The Coachmakers course runs from start of September until June. Traineeship opportunities are on an individual basis and last from between 3-6 months.

2C Training Academy run programmes in Knowle, Clevedon and Yate in the Bristol area.

How do I apply?

There are 20 places available. This is not a foundation learning programme it is a vocational level 2 so we expect a reasonable standard of Maths and English. But if you have the right attitude and are willing to learn, we welcome your application. Our aim is to raise aspiration and inspire success. If you are already volunteering in some kind of Sports Coaching, this is looked at very favourably.
